Pelican Vigil of Master Cahan
Twelfth Night AS XXXIV
It was a very special time for me. Many of my friends of the Peerages stopped by to offer me advice and pass on the wisdom they have gained over the years as members of the Peerage. I only have a few pictures to share, but they mean a lot to me. My Mistress, Duchess Sedalia MacNare, could not attend because of her health at the time, but the letter she sent with Duke Gavin of her advice was read before I spoke with any other Peer. It is interesting to note that a letter she sent me many years ago encouraged me to stay in the SCA at a time when I was ready to pack it in. The cloak you will see in the background was made by my man-at-arms Lord Angus Campbell of Argyl, the medallion you see at the top of this page was carved by Lord Valdis of Gotland, another man-at-arms.
Duke Gavin
escorted me to the vigil room.
Refreshments to be served
Lady Tirza calms my nerves
as a good wife will.
Reading the letter.
The passing of the belt to
the newest apprentice, who Duchess Sedalia accepted at Pennsic.
Talking with my long time
friend, Mistress Morganna, who during the ceremony spoke as the member of the
Laurel. The member of the Chivalry who spoke on my behalf, Viscount Master
Sir Haakon Oaktall, couldn't be there so his words were spoken by Sir Magnus
Bloodaxe. The member of the Pelican who spoke was Viscount Master Sir
Edward (Fast Eddie) and the Lady of the Rose who spoke was Queen Marieke of the
East.
Speaking with another long
time friend, Baron Sir Mitchell MacBain.
Baron Sir Muireadch of
Carrigart had some advice to pass on.
If anyone who views this page has some pictures of either the Vigil or the Ceremony, I would appreciate some copies to post here.
