Mistress Tirza's Elevation
At the Coronation of Darius and Roxane, held in the Barony of Settmour Swamp (East Kingdom) on September 24, 2005, Lady Tirza became Mistress Tirza as she was inducted into the Order of the Pelican. On this page are photos that were taken at the event.
Starting from the left, the first three pictures are from when she was summoned into court and then sent to stand vigil to think about becoming a member of the Order of the Pelican. Baron Angus made a partlet with the Pelican Device on the back. I had to lighten the picture because he used black beadwork on black material, except for the blood drops. The broach was made by Lady Carolwyn Silveroak and depicts a scene from the bible of the water being turned to wine. (ref: John 2: 7-9). The last picture in this row is of the Clan Bard, Lady Anya, playing her harp during the vigil.
Starting from the left, The procession into court is the first picture. The next is of Tirza kneeing on the knee bench made by Lord Valdis and Mistress Brangwayna that was a gift from Clan Kyle to the East several years ago. As we processed in, Tirza informed me that she was going to use the "Clan Kyle Bench". Next picture she is listening to the letter from Baron Master Sir Gregory of Loch Swan (her Aussie son from the Kingdom of LocAc) being read by Viscount Master Sir Edward Zifran of Gendy on behalf of the Order of Chivalry. The next picture she is listening to the comments of Mistress Brangwayna Morgan that were made on behalf of the Order of the Laurel. Next, even though she was cut out by the photographer, Duchess Mistress Isabella of York spoke on behalf of the Ladies of the Rose. The last picture is of Mistress Katherine Barr (and the main instigator behind Tirza's elevation) speaking on behalf of the Order of the Pelican.
Starting from the left, the partlet is tied in place by Darius and Roxane. Next, the broach was pinned to the partlet by Darius followed by the medallion ( made by Master Lothar of Drachenstine Treasures) being hooked in place. The last picture is of the reading of the scroll and the awarding of Arms by Letters Patent.
It was a beautiful ceremony and the fact that Mistress Tirza's hard work over the years was recognized made it a good day. It was "a clean kill" as she was summoned into court and after a few words by King Darius the Order of the Pelican was called. Unfortunately no one took a picture of the surprised look on Tirza's face for she had no clue that this was going to happen.
