Books by William N. Kyle
Welcome friends. This Page is for anyone who is interested in Stories that I have written that have been published. I have heard from people who have bought the books and have enjoyed them.
I
have never claimed to be a great writer or a literary genius. I am a simple
storyteller and what I write is simply a story and nothing more, so please read
my books just as a story. If you are expecting a great literary work, you will
be disappointed. If you just enjoy a story, then I hope you will enjoy my books.
The
world of Enden is a product of my own imagination as are all the races that live
there. I will admit that some of the attributes of my races are similar to
others found in Sword and Sorcery Fantasy writings. Let’s face it; Tolkien set
basic standards that are followed by many writers with slight changes. Some
writers have gone against the standard and have been very successful, but others
have tried and failed.
Some
of the combat scenes in the books are based on my combat experiences from
Vietnam, I just changed the type of weapons. There are no guns, cannons, etc. in
my stories and I do not use modern day "common street language" (swear
words) either.
As with other writers, I have based some of my characters on people that
I have met. I make alterations in personality to avoid embarrassing them. I also
have many friends who contribute ideas from time to time on which I expand. One
thing that I want to make perfectly clear is that the names I use are just
characters in my books and nothing more. They in no way
reflect upon real people and any similarity to the personal life or attributes
of any real person is completely coincidental.
Elden Deathwalk
Enden is a world of beauty with majestic mountains, fertile farmlands, and expansive plains. It is home for many races and creatures that wish to live their lives in peace. However, the Races of Chaos, led by the Race of Demons, wish to conquer and enslave the Races of Order. What stands in their way are the Elden Warriors, the Ancient Protectors. Many a war has been lost by Chaos due to the finale intervention of the Elden Warriors.
The Demon Race with the help of the Bursh, a race of sorcerers, has a new Master Plan for conquest. The plan is threatened by the meeting of Argus, a Watcher, and a warrior named Cahan. It becomes a larger problem when it is determined that the warrior is part Elden. Even without being of the true blood of the Elden, he exhibits many of the abilities of the Elden Warriors.
Argus tells Cahan, who has no memory of his parents or his youth, he is strong with the Elden Blood. This prompts Cahan, with his bonded companion and horse Nightwind, to start his journey to Ebon, the city of the Elden, to find his past and his destiny.
Elden Deathwalk is available at www.barnesandnoble.com. As a Bard in the SCA, I have been told many times to write some of my stories and have them printed. Well I did, but due to length of the story, it had to be divided into two books. It is now available thru Barnes & Noble. Return From Legend
Enden has been peaceful for many years except for the few border raids by the Races of Chaos, mostly by the Saurians. In the background are the Elden, a race of warriors who opposed Chaos on rare occasions. So rare that the Elden have been considered just a legend.
The Elden Warlord, Cahan MacHaimheirgin, is given information about the new Saurian Outposts that are being built. Although the Saurians give the appearance of just fortifying their border, there are strong indications the outposts are much more than they appear.
At a meeting of the leaders of the Races of Order, the Elden are requested to reoccupy their old Holds, vacant for five hundred years, and reestablish a presence that could deter a Saurian invasion that would plunge Enden into war.
The Bursh, a race of sorcerers, allied with the Races of Chaos, are concerned about a Saurian invasion as well for it could endanger the future Master Plan of World Conquest, a plan that is sponsored by the Race of Demons, leaders of Chaos. The plan could fail if the Elden reestablish a presence. The Bursh need to find the Holds and a way to neutralize them and the Elden.
. It is available at both Amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com. The book title is Return From Legend (ISBN 0-595-31287-X)
Saurian Summer
The Saurians built new
outposts under the guise of increasing security of their border, however, the
large staging areas discovered hidden in the woods behind them caused the Races
of Order concern about a possible invasion. A Saurian Invasion will also cause
problems for the Demon and the Bursh. It will have a major impact on the Master
Plan they had been working on for many years.
The major key, to the
Plan, was the Races of Order did not have a united front and the humans were
unorganized, but an invasion could change that. If the unallied races and the
Races of Order united, working together they could defeat the Master Plan.
The Plan was designed
for world conquest by the Races of Chaos to happen so quickly that the Elden
would arrive too late to help. Now had to be modified because the Elden returned
to their strongholds after five hundred years due to the invasion threat.
The Saurians had to be stopped or defeated quickly. Unbeknownst to the Elden and the other Races of Order, they had allies in the Demon and the Bursh who were taking their own steps.
My fourth and newest book is called Saurian Summer and is scheduled for a September release. The ISBN is 0-595-36497-1. I am currently writing the next book (my fifth) and I will keep every one posted on its progress. In my previous books I would mention the Battle of Gurth Valley that took place several years before Cahan became Warlord of the Elden. Many of my fans have asked if I could write a book about the battle. I have decided to do so and it should be available summer of 2006.
